Our initial response to the project is led by the brief aim of “putting people back at the centre of the city”. The worldwide financial core, the Square Mile is home to numerous businesses and workers. The infinite forest of office towers, fields of pavements and deserts of deactivated public spaces transform people working or visiting the area into machine-like workers encapsulated within the corporate realm.

We propose to reimagine Square Mile historical heritage as an inspirational force reminding people of their capacity as human beings rather than cog-in-the-machine to make a long-lasting impact to communities and world. We aspire to manifest this idea through a series of installations reinterpreting Architecture of London Wall Gates. Designed in collaboration with seven emerging artists, these installations will be assembled in the historic locations of the original gates.
